QR code verification

Scanning the QR code opens a web page that performs a direct read call on the blockchain accessing the Digital Product Passport.

The URL itself shows the smart contract address, parameters, and function being called, allowing anyone to verify that the data is retrieved directly from the blockchain, without intermediaries or proprietary servers.

At the top of the certificate, the verified owner of the information is displayed, identifying the brand whose smart contract issued the data.

Component-level identification and verification

Digital Product Passports can be applied at component level, not only to finished products. When space allows, a QR code can be applied directly to the component, linking it to its blockchain-based certificate.

For very small components, a unique password is engraved into the object, while only its cryptographic hash is stored on the blockchain. During verification, the engraved value is hashed and matched against the on-chain record.

When objects are too small to host a QR code, a unique password can be physically engraved into the item. Only the cryptographic hash of this password is stored on the certificate of authenticity, wither digital or on paper.

This allows the certificate to be securely linked to the physical object, while making it impossible to reverse the process or recreate the original password.
